Blackdove…
By Craig | February 5, 2008
Howdy,
Another tune today from the forthcoming “Community Punishment Workshop” compilation that pulls together songs from 2000-2005, with this one coming from sometime in 2001 when we were still going under the name Buick6.
It’s called Blackdove and comes from the time when we were doing most of our recording at a house in Harborne, Birmingham using an AKAI 4-track tape deck, a couple of mikes and an off-licence within walking distance.
LISTEN
There are lots of songs from this time and some of them were going to be released on Winnebago Records before it collapsed spectacularly after spending all it’s money releasing a single by another Birmingham band who will remain nameless.
Anyway, a lot of the songs were in the live set at the time as so whilst recording was generally a process of trial and error (eagle-eared listeners will notice the POPS on this one) the takes themselves were pretty quick and for the most part everything was recorded live.
Mostly it was Jez who took the controls because he was the one who know which buttons to press
The rest of us would be in charge of removing the furniture from the dining room and then setting up the instruments..

Enjoy the song.
