Another From The Dusty Vaults
By Craig | January 23, 2008
This month’s free track from our dim and distant past is Salvation Day. As with Hard Road (given away in December) it comes from the 2004 recordings we made in Hockley, Birmingham that never quite saw the light of day as part of the ”Gun Quarter Tapes” album.
Anyway, it eventually sees the light of day now and will also be on the forthcoming free download compilation album, ”Community Punishment Workshop - Selected Recordings 2000-2005” (more details on this soon).
The strings on the Salvation Day recording were provided by two of Birmingham’s finest musicians.
On Fiddle you will find Leighton Hargreaves, a long-time collaborator of ours who also featured on Peel Session #2. These days he is part of the quite wonderful Destroyers - one of the best live bands working in our city today.
On Viola is Jo Hamilton (no relation to me, by the way) who as well as a great string player is also a fabulous singer-songwriter. Her new album “Gown” is out shortly on Poseidon Records and you can find more info as and when on Jo’s site.
Enough blather and chat, on with the tunes…
LISTEN
Enjoy!
