Greasy Moss Was The Final Hurdle
By Craig | August 15, 2007
The CD copies of “Lighting and Electrical” arrived today.
…but only after another ‘Eventually….’
So.
Entirely in keeping with the rest of this album they arrived after being temporarily mislaid by TNT, apparently lost in their ultra complex system for an agonizing 36-hours.
Yesterday evening, as I was being informed by a helpful TNT call centre dude that they had lost the truck that was carrying the CDs from their GPS whatsit (”It’s weird”, he said, “It’s like it’s disappeared or something…”), I contemplated what else could possibly stand in the way of our Commercially Inviable folk music.
The answer to my question was: The moss near my garden wall.
As the TNT driver was humping the final consignment of precious boxes from his truck to my grateful hands over the garden wall earlier today, I slipped on the moss made greasy by yet another summer downpour.
For a fleeting moment my heels slipped superfast from underneath me and I became certain that I would crash down onto the concrete, skull first and under boxes containing this fucking album. As I frantically pinwheeled…………this prospect seemed entirely normal, fitting and right.
Just as soon as this thought had crossed my mind I managed to regain my footing, stashed the boxes and went down the pub to celebrate.
I gave the barmaid a free copy of Lighting and Electrical, just to balance things out.
