May you be in heaven ten minutes before the devil knows you’re dead.
By Craig | July 13, 2007
A month or so ago I had a chat with Antonio Gould who was making a series of Podcasts for Channel 4 about New Meeja. One such episode was about Music on the Interweb, and after being tipped off by Andrew Dubber, he tracked me down and asked me to talk about how we’re using the interweb to promote, hawk and flog our Commercially Inviable brand of Country Folk, and in particular the Lighting and Electrical album.

So…
Antonio and I had a chat in Jibbering Records and I stand by 99% of what I said….apart from the bit about the album being available.
Ooops.
These are the facts….
The album is at the CD pressing plant and comes back in it’s shiny physical format in the next couple of weeks.
The first single off the album, “Frequency of the Word Turtle“, will be available in early September from all of the fabulous e-retailers I talk about in the Fibcast.
The album will be available in online stores from late September, and in CD format from here just as soon as the cheque clears and the ‘units’ arrive.
Probably.
Regular viewers of the Friends of the Stars cavalcade of continuous underachievement will know that this kind of fuck-up - precisely this kind of fuck-up, in fact - is absolutely par for the course. This is why we have the disclaimer about our preternatural unreliability in the side bar over there…
In short, don’t be alarmed or surprised by our inability to deliver on time, even months after we’ve said we will. I’m no longer surprised by it, so neither should you be.
If you’ve found your way here as a result of listening to what I said, and if you’d like any advice on how (not) to do things then please feel free to email us at info@friendsofthestars.co.uk. I’ll happily tell you where you’re going right.
In the meantime, please feel free to browse the site, visit the Myspzz page and…well….Be Careful Out There.
Tonight I’m off to see one of my heroes, Kevin Rowland. He’s DJing at a pub up the road.
If he was forming Dexys Midnight Runnersright now, I feel sure he would grab this New Meeja Interweb thing with both hands.
xx
