Radio Friends of the Stars

By Craig | June 28, 2007

Well now.

Should you wish you can listen to Radio Friends of the Stars, courtesty of Last.FM, right here from the page. You’ll normally find the radio doohickey on the right hand side bar, down there at the bottom. However, for this post only here it is..

HINT: There is a little ‘Pop out’ option in the bottom right hand corner of the radio player. If you click on it the player will magically detach itself from the page. This will allow you to visit other pages on the net whilst still staying tuned in to Radio Friends of the Stars!

I know, I know…It’s like something out of a science fiction telly programme, innit.

Click to play and you’ll get tunes from the folks we like, such as Teenage FanclubGram Parsons, Gillian Welch, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Grand Drive and a host of others.

By the way, if you are a Last.FM user then you can also now listen to tracks from Lighting and Electrical album via their site, and also recommend us to your buddies!

In other news, I’ve been looking at www.nimbit.com which is another interweb doohickey that will allow all six of our valued readers to purchase MP3 files direct from this site. I’m still talking to their man Dave Coffin to iron out all the details, but so far it’s looking good.

Talking of releasing records on the interweb in a grown-up fashion, I’ve been wrestling with CatCo’s music registration system, App v4, and have achieved a small level of success. Our tunes are all now official and proper and ready to sit for all eternity, unloved and unpurchased on the shelves of digital music stores across the length and breadth of the interweb.

(Incidentally, if you are interested in releasing your own tunes on the interweb then read this PDF document. It’s not all that tricky, it just involves at lot of form-filling - on paper and online. You should also look at Andrew Dubber’s New Music Strategies for advice, hints and tips)

In album news, it seems that Olivia Mole’s CD of artwork made it across the atlantic in one piece and met the criteria of the design department at Key Production. As I write, a hard-copy proof is making it’s way back from London to Los Angeles for Olivia to approve. Once that is done, the final hurdle we must crash through like a drunken steeplechaser is to stump up with some cash and then the Lighting and Electrical CD will finally come to pass. Phew!

Finally, I was very, very happy to discover that Kevin Rowland will be playing a DJ set at one of the bars local to me next month. As a big, big Dexys Midnight Runners fan this will be a real treat for me, even at £10 (TEN POUNDS!!) a ticket. I’ll post more on my Dexys obsession very shortly…

In the meantime, Kevin recently began working on new material and has posted first fruits on his myspace page.

Ok….it’s sunny, so I’m off to my allotment
